About

Ben Stiefel holds a Bachelors and Masters Degree in Music Education from the Brooklyn College Conservatory of Music.  He has been a music teacher with the New York City Department Of Education, school District 22, since 1983.  His early original musical compositions include We're All One People - Under The Sun - choral octavo published in 1992 by Hal Leonard Publishing Corporation, and Light The Christmas Tree, published by Warner Brothers Music Publishing Co.

 

Over the past thirty years, Ben has written and produced numerous creative projects for teachers and students, including the his best selling book, Winning Over Your Toughest Music Class K-6, and CD, Just Be Cool - Follow The Rule!

 

In 2013, composed, co-wrote, and self-produced his first original musical comedy,  I Love My Wi-Fi.  The show was an instant hit among his family and friends.

 

In 2014, Ben wrote and composed, Stick A Fork In Me... I’m Done!, an original musical comedy about life's little stresses and ways to cope.  After two staged readings in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, and after tweaking the story and songs, Ben is now ready to bring the show to a larger audience in preparation for a future Off-Broadway run.

 

In 2015, Ben's original musical comedy Stick A Fork In Me... I'm Done! was accepted into the Midtown International Theatre Festival Summer.

 

In 2016, Ben conducted a staged reading of his latest musical comedy, "Pumpkin Spiced Musical," at The Directors Company in New York City. 

 

In November, 2017, "Pumpkin Spiced Musical" was staged in Brooklyn, NY, with standing ovations for it's entire run.

 

In 2018 - 2019, Ben spent much of these two years preparing a screenplay and tweaking the songs for a movie version of his "Pumpkin Spiced Musical."  Ben  re-recording the songs for "Pumpkin Spiced Musical" in anticipation of a movie production of the musical comedy.

In 2020, filming was set to begin on Ben's "Pumpkin Spiced Musical" movie.  Unfortunately, the pandemic hit, and filming had to be postponed.

In 2021, "Pumpkin Spiced Musical" the movie became a reality, with filming completed in November.

​

In 2022, with an August 15th debut, "Pumpkin Spiced Musical" the movie was distributed by Filmhub, and released simultaneously on YouTube.  As 2022 came to a close, the movie has received over 1,000 views on YouTube, and is available on Tubi, Xumo, and various streaming services.

In 2023, Ben wrote and composed his next musical comedy called "Ghost Pepper The Musical."  While he planned to make Ghost Pepper his second indie film, all his plans 'imploded' as hired actors continuously dropped out for various reasons.

​

In 2024, Ben made a documentary detailing all his miserable experiences in trying and failing at making indie film number two.  the documentary,  "Lights... Camera... Implosion!," was distributed by Filmhub and is available on various streaming platforms.

​

In 2025, now having some experience and success at making a documentary, Ben decided to make another.  This one tells the story of his band, "All The King's Men" - a 1980's-1990's bar / restaurant / wedding band with dreams of stardom.  The documentary details the story of the band, from its formation in the 1970's, to various local gigs, to multiple appearances on the Manhattan Cable public access show called "Stairway To Stardom," and through the decades.  The documentary, "Climbing The Stairway To Stardom | All The King's Men 1970's - TODAY" is available exclusively on YouTube.
